This industry is getting lazy

I witness this industry going through different phase.
The birth, the excitement, the disappointment, the rebirth, the maturity, etc.

It feels like we are entering a new age.
It’s not the most interesting phase and we have to work harder to go to the next level.
We are getting digitally lazy.
Digital as a tool, channel, media, whatever you need to call it is getting so mature that it doesn’t reinvent itself anymore.
You can’t communicate with your friends, clients, target audience without being online.
And we wanted that.
In the last couple of years, a new evolution of the digital business raised the bar.
This industry was getting professional. And we all thought that it was for the good of everyone.
But being professional is now becoming an excuse for laziness.
We do have solutions for every issues.
On a creative and production level.
The concept of ‘no brainer’. You make your life easier.
You prepare a pre digested presentation for your clients, you fill up your new buckets,

you have premade solutions for your issues, one shop stop , one button design, one click blog, etc.
You don’t think, you just apply.
Because we know where we are going.
When the process is becoming a rule.
And we became digitally lazy.

I didn’t embrace digital with that mindset.
We have to challenge our self everyday.
Find new solutions and new ways.
Explore, discover, challenge, synthesise.
The end solution has to be simple.
The process to get to this solution is your challenge.
With one obsession in mind: do better.

I am looking for some digital producers to work with me at Ogilvy New York.
Some people with a creative approach on production challenges. Smart thinkers.

Is check-in over?

I have been thinking about writing this for the past few weeks and my buddy Om gave me the shove to do it yesterday with his post “FourSquare’s Crowley on Facebook, Check-in Fatigue & the Copy Cats”

This post is absolute killer to write given my past positivity and possible giddiness on location based services.

Om tells Foursquare founder Dennis Crowley “that he has a problem – even hardcore users and fans like me are getting bored with Foursquare and finding it hard to constantly check-in”

I think the problem is way bigger than that, way way bigger, I dont want to “check in”, I want to know right now if a friend is near me, if I am buying something that is cheaper nearby by or are there any specials nearby. This just isnt happening at the speed the rest of technology is moving at. Check-in just isnt enough for me, it make no change to my mobile behavior and ”John recommends the ribs” is not enough for me to keep trying to love location at the moment.

There are a couple of interesting things coming though and one of my “likes” is MyTown which allows me to check into products as well as the normal location stuff, whats interesting if I check into products I could be offered better deals on those products, this is a really interesting developement in G-Lo.

Am I down on location?

Absolutely not, I believe that it will become part of our daily live but we really need to get the industry and @dens to move along now.
